The 1500 Archive by Twizm

Saturday, January 30th, 2010

Our very own Matt (aka Twizm, aka Twizzy, aka The Mumbler, aka Lightning Fingers, aka OH MY GOD!) has got too much time on his hands it seems. For a little over a year now, Matt has been on the mission of compiling a complete archive of UK produced New Balance 1500s, as well as some of the earlier US made versions of the shoe, and some unreleased samples. You could say he’s obsessed, and if you’ve ever met Matt you’ll know that he can work New Balance into a conversation about Vegemite. I hazard to guess that this is the most comprehensive record of this icon on the planet which makes it a pretty amazing accomplishment and a full geek-out, and he knows it. The complete archive has been posted on the Project 4000 blog for everybody to enjoy, class is in session.

Supra Skytop IIs and More…

Thursday, January 28th, 2010

The wait is finally over with two versions of Supra’s Skytop II making their way into Laced in a Navy and Metallic Gold leather with some unique webbing around the ankle and side panel. Despite their height these are surprisingly lightweight and comfortable. Taking cues from the Jordan 6, the Skytop II’s back heel loop and tongue holes make it easier to get them on your feet, while their low profile midsole maintains board-feel (remember, these are meant to be a skate shoe…).

…and this stealth black suede version with red leather lining is soo the business!

As you’d expect, and can see from these comparison pics the Skytop II is taller than its predecessor, but only marginally.

And it seems TK’s Society still has bragging rights as the tallest Supra on offer…

We also have the newly updated Cuban 1.5 which comes with leather laces as standard with a pop red coloured chain draped over perfrated black TUF material.

And Jim Greco’s signature model; the Thunder, is available in both low and high versions in a buttery burgundy suede with patent heel tab and alternate wax laces. See our entire Supra range available now in store and ONLINE.

Paper Guns

Sunday, January 24th, 2010

Just in from cutting edge design printers Gestalten we have a veritable arsenal of paper weaponary. That’s right paper. Luckily these things only danger is a severe paper cut. We have super limited stock of the MP5 9mm sub-machine gun, Uzi, No.36M Mills Bomb hand grenade, M4A8 Carbide assault rifle and the staple of any good baddie, the instantly recognisable AK47 Assault Rifle.

Martin Postler is the designer and the detail involved in these is insane and has to be seen to be appreciated.  Be warned though, this intense detail coupled with the fact that they’re made completely from paper means you’re in for a few long nights work. But after all your toiling you’ll be left with one of the coolest looking pieces of paper sculpture going around. Makes those origami swans look a bit passe!

As mentioned, numbers on these are low so be quick and snap one up before they all march out the door.

Nike DJ Quickstrikes

Friday, January 22nd, 2010

The latest releases from the Nike Quickstrike range pays homage to two of the music industry’s hardest working DJs; DJ Premiere and DJ AM with a premium Air Force 1 and Dunk High respectively. Read below for some back story on the co-labs, but don’t snooze, or they will vanish…forever. Available now in store and online.

Representing the WEST: DJ AM

It is no secret that DJ AM, aka Adam Goldstein, was not only obsessed with sneaker culture, but was also infatuated with one of the most celebrated of Nike Sportswear icons, the Nike Dunk. Coupled with his love of the brand and his affection for the Dunk, DJ AM rendered a classic in the most traditional form. Leyva said, “It’s crazy to think we hadn’t yet worked with DJ AM.” Taking inspiration from old school Air Jordan colorways and his massive collection of sneakers, DJ AM brings you the Dunk rendered in red, black, and gray. DJ AM’s passion for deejaying would only result in a shoe that has numerous references to his craft. Dot detailing on the back heel of the shoe represents the flashing lights only a DJ can see reflecting from spinning turntables. The black and grey colorway is a hint to the materials he used to ignite a dance floor. With the color red as the base, his DJ AM logo is embossed on the tongue tab of the shoe as the final detail.

Representing the EAST: DJ Premier

When it comes to the East Coast and legendary hip hop producers, DJ Premier will be named their turntable king. Adopting Brooklyn as his home, DJ Premier chose this icon of East Coast culture to represent his presence in the design challenge that was placed before him. Signature East Coast style, the Air Force 1 has been revered on the streets as not only a staple, but also as a name of respect in the city boroughs. Nike Sportswear Design Director Jesse Leyva worked with Premier on this shoe and he mentioned that, “Premo wanted to put his name somewhere on the shoe, but not in a loud way.” This was accomplished with a subtle laser on the back heels. Using the palette of NYC as his inspiration, DJ Premier colored up his AF1 in black, forest green, and white to represent the current styles of his city.
